REFUGEE HELP

SCIENCES PO

ABOUT US

In order to address the everyday and long-term needs of the refugees,we are divided into five different teams. By dividing our work into these distinct fields of action, we are able to work more effectively and to act in a swift and organized manner.

Administration

The Administration Team is managing branch of the association and includes a lot fo the behind the scenes work. It divided into subgroups which includes the secretariat, the treasurer, the fundraising committee, internal and external communications, media and press management, as well as the volunteer support group.

Asylum Aid

The Asylum Aid Team uses knowledge of the French and EU asylum system to asylum applicants with their procedure for refugee status where possible. Volunteers provide advice on the asylum procedure, help explain asylum seeker’s rights, accompany asylum seekers to medical visits, check over necessary forms, and redirect applicants to the appropriate organizations when necessary. Volunteers also provide translations from Farsi and Arabic to French.

French Lessons

The French lessons team provides a number of classes per week to refugees around Paris in 4 different locations. These classes aim at giving refugees basic communication skills in order to facilitate their everyday activities and interactions in France. Some refugees follow our classes in order to be able to access higher educational institutions.

Material Needs

The Material Needs Team is responsible for the provision of the most urgent needs. To do this, members conduct regular needs assessments in migrant camps and certain housing centres in the Paris region. Constantly on the ground, it works closely with other actors and businesses to efficiently budget and coordinate material deliveries (sleeping bags, underclothes, hygiene kits...).

Social Activities

The Social Activities Team works to improve the social life of refugees. Often neglected, the provision of a social and cultural outlet is essential to the maintenance of a humane quality of life for refugees. The volunteers organize activities such as visits of museums, tours of Paris, sport events and movie screenings.

OUR VOLUNTEERS

We should all mobilize around them to help find concrete solutions to the plight of these men, women and children.
